Govt to bear medical expenses of injured persons in Tangail accident

RAJSHAHI, May 26, 2026 (BSS)- Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner Kazi Shahidul Islam visited patients receiving treatment at Rajshahi Medical College (RMCH) Hospital who were injured in the tragic road accident in Kalihati, Tangail. 

At the time, he said the government would bear the cost of their treatment.
 
This morning, he went to RMCH and inquired about the physical condition of the injured patients. He spoke with doctors to get detailed information about the progress of their treatment and assured them of giving all necessary support.
 
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner told journalists that 17 people were killed in the horrific road accident occurred on Monday.

Several of the injured were transferred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. He said four injured people currently undergoing treatment at the hospital are out of danger.
 
He said the government will bear all the expenses for the treatment of the injured. Instructions have given to the relevant authorities to ensure there is no shortfall in giving treatment.
 
The Deputy Commissioner said special measures have been taken by the district administration to ensure discipline and safety on the roads ahead of Eid.
