10 more die from measles, measles-like symptoms

DHAKA, May 26, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 10 more children died from measles and measles-like symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours, while 1,136 patients were admitted to hospitals during the same period.

According to a press release issued today by the Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the number of suspected measles cases recorded in the last 24 hours stood at 1,083, bringing the total number of suspected cases to 66,023 between March 15 and May 26.

The number of confirmed measles cases in the last 24 hours was 53, raising the total confirmed cases to 8,772 during the period from March 15 to May 26.

Since March 15, a total of 52,533 suspected measles patients have been admitted to hospitals, while 48,800 patients have recovered and been discharged during the same period.

In the last 24 hours, nine people died from suspected measles. From March 15 to May 26, the total death toll from suspected measles reached 467. In addition, 88 people died from confirmed measles during the same period.

So far, Dhaka division has recorded the highest number of suspected measles infections at 31,163, including 6,066 confirmed cases.
