BARISHAL, May 26, 2026 (BSS) - Three members of a family were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a motorcycle on the Dhaka-Barisal highway in Gouranadi area of Barisal this afternoon.
 
The deceased were identified as Firoz Mahmud, son of Abdul Hakim Hawladar of Uzirpur upazila, his wife Monira Begum, and their child Jannat.
 
According to police and local sources, the accident occurred when a passenger bus collided head-on with the motorcycle, leaving three motorcycle riders critically injured.
 
Locals rushed them to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared them dead.
 
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohsin Hossain of Gouranadi Highway Police Station confirmed the incident.
 
Police seized the bus after the accident, though its driver and helper fled the scene. Legal proceedings are underway, police said.
