CHATTOGRAM, June 10, 2026 (BSS) - A college student drowned in a pond in Baharchhara Union of Banshkhali this morning.
Victim Fahima Taslim Sadia, 22, was a third year honors student at Haji Mohammad Mohsin College in Chattogram.
Ex-UP member of Baharchhara Union Mohammad Momtaz Uddin said Sadia slipped and fell into the pond ghat while performing ablution for the Fajr prayers. Lacking swimming skills, she was unable to save herself.
Her younger sister noticed Sadia floating in the pond and informed their family. Relatives rescued her and took her to the hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
