LAKSHMIPUR, June 27, 2026 (BSS)- Lawmaker from Lakshmipur-2 constituency and BNP chairman’s adviser Abul Khayer Bhuiyan has said the killing of five people including four of a same family at Raipur upazila is neither a political nor a communal incident.

He made the remark after visiting the crime scene here this afternoon, urging everyone not to exploit the tragedy to create unrest or disturb communal harmony.
According to him, some media outlets are spreading misleading information, attempting to create instability by politicizing the incident. He warned that necessary action would be taken against any electronic or local media to be found spreading provocation or false report.

“We are not here to do politics. We have no intention to politicize any inhumane activities. We are trying to serve the people by acting for their welfare,” he said.

He further added that instead of issuing any statement from afar he chose to visit the site personally to know about the real fact.

Criticizing opposition political narratives, he said it is unfortunate for any party to reap political gain from such a brutal killing. The incident should be viewed purely from the humane perspective rather than a political one.
The ruling party MP also confirmed that police are actively investigating into the killings and law enforcement agencies are working to uncover the mystery behind the incident.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Raipur Mehedi Hasan Kaushar, OC of Raipur thana Shahin Mia and local BNP leaders Nazmul Islam Mithu, ABM Jilani and Nazrul Islam Liton accompanied the lawmaker during the visit.
