GAZIPUR, June 29, 2026 (BSS) - Gazipur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Nurul Karim Bhuiyan today urged content creators to avoid clickbait headlines and misinformation, stressing the need for fact-checking and responsible use of social media to promote truth and public awareness.
"Misleading or sensational 'clickbait' headlines have become one of the major problems on social media, as many contents carry headlines that bear little resemblance to their actual substance merely to attract more views," he said.
The DC was addressing an interactive meeting with young content creators organised by the Gazipur district administration to promote social responsibility, enhance public awareness and counter misinformation.
The discussion centred on the social responsibilities of digital content creators in an era of rapidly expanding online platforms.
Nurul Karim urged content creators to refrain from publishing or sharing information without verification and emphasised the importance of fact-checking before producing or disseminating content.
During natural disasters or social crises, he said, content creators should stand beside people by providing accurate information instead of spreading confusion or rumours. "People are ultimately recognised by their work," he said.
Highlighting the role of digital media in bringing positive social change, the deputy commissioner stressed the importance of presenting accurate information alongside effective content framing and presentation techniques.
He also encouraged young creators to view content creation not merely as a source of entertainment but as a respectable and commercially viable profession capable of making meaningful contributions to society.
Referring to world-renowned comedian Charlie Chaplin and Bangladesh's celebrated television personality and creator of the magazine programme 'Ityadi', Hanif Sanket, the DC said entertainment can serve as a powerful medium for delivering positive social messages when combined with creativity and proper use of visual and audio elements.
To further develop the skills of local content creators, he announced that the district administration would organise a day-long specialised workshop for them.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue and LA) Md Sohel Rana, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md Shahriar Nazir, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) M Rakibul Hasan, senior district administration officials and representatives of various media outlets, among others, attended the meeting.
