KHULNA, July 3, 2026 (BSS) - A farmers' rally was held in Rupsha upazila today to mark the National Rural Development Day, observed under the theme, "Developed Villages, Prosperous Nation - Bangladesh First."

The programme, organised by the Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB), took place at the Rupsha Upazila Model Mosque auditorium.

Speaking as the chief guest, Khulna-4 lawmaker Azizul Bari Helal praised farmers for their vital contribution to agriculture, rural development and the country's economic progress.

He urged all stakeholders to work together to accelerate rural development initiatives.

Helal said the BRDB was established by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman to improve the living standards of rural people and bring marginalised communities into the mainstream of development.

He said the organisation was founded to ensure that rural communities directly benefit from its programmes and that development reaches people from the grassroots to the national level.

Farmers, local public representatives and residents from different walks of life attended the rally.
