DHAKA, May 10, 2025 (BSS) - Fact-checking platform BanglaFact, operated by the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB), has flagged a viral video as misleading and part of a disinformation campaign falsely linking it to a recent National Citizen Party (NCP) rally.

In its latest report, BanglaFact clarified that the video - widely shared online - actually dates back to December 2023, showing a BNP-organized torch procession in Tangail during a political blockade protesting the national election schedule.

The footage, which shows Awami League supporters allegedly disrupting the event, is now being wrongfully circulated as evidence of a recent attack on an NCP rally, the organization said.

BanglaFact said the video has no connection to any current NCP activities, and its use is a deliberate attempt to spread misinformation.
