DHAKA, Oct 31, 2025 (BSS) - FactWatch, a Bangladesh-based independent fact-checking organisation, has identified a widely circulated video claiming a fire on the Metro Rail as AI-generated.

FactWatch launched an investigation after the footage began circulating on platforms, including Facebook, claiming that the operating metro rail in Dhaka had caught fire.

The video footage depicted a metro rail train tilted over the line with a section of the train burning, while pedestrians below were seen filming the scene.

The investigation team quickly determined that the claim of a recent fire incident involving the Dhaka metro rail was unfounded. A review of domestic news media found no reports concerning a recent metro fire in Dhaka.

Furthermore, observations of the video revealed several significant irregularities suggesting the content was not genuine.

FactWatch specifically noted the presence of railings located next to the metro rail's path of travel, emphasizing that these types of railings are not present on the constructed metro rail paths in Dhaka.

Additionally, the manner in which the train was seen tilting or hanging was noted to be somewhat unusual.

For definitive confirmation, FactWatch utilized specialized deepfake video identification tools. The content was analyzed using the tool
'Hive Moderation', which verified the content and reported an 86 percent probability that the video was AI-generated.

Verification was also conducted through 'Deepfake-o-Meter,' another tool designed to identify deepfake videos. Multiple models employed by
this tool confirmed that the video had been created using artificia intelligence (AI).

Due to these technical and visual findings, FactWatch confirmed that the video claiming a fire on the metro rail was false.
