DHAKA, May 18, 2025 (BSS) - Fact-checking platform BanglaFact, operated by the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB), has identified a fake video on girls' Facebook use and boys' prayers, saying that such forged video has been prepared by adding different audios through editing with the help of digital technology.

BanglaFact's investigation found that neither the government issued any directives nor did the army publicize the statement that "Girls will not be able to use Facebook, and prayers are mandatory for boys."

Fact check and media research team of BanglaFact mentioned that the Bangladesh Army has not made any announcement or statement to the effect that the government has banned girls from using Facebook and TikTok and made mandatory for boys to pray five times a day.

The BanglaFact investigation team said in fact, the video was circulated by adding different audios to a video of an army member's speech through editing with the help of digital technology.

Moreover, no such instructions were given by the interim government, the team added.

When asked about the video in question, the Inter Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) Lieutenant Colonel Sami-Ud-Dowla Chowdhury confirmed to BanglaFact that the matter is fake.
