DHAKA, July 20, 2025 (BSS) - FactWatch, a Bangladesh-based independent fact-checking organization, has identified videos and pictures claiming that these are the videos and pictures of Gopalganj violence which are actually videos and pictures of protesters killed in 'July Uprising' in the last year.

In a statement, FactWatch mentioned that according to media reports, five people died in the violence that broke out in Gopalganj last week around a National Citizen Party (NCP) programme.

Several pictures and videos are being shared on Facebook claiming that these are videos of the violence in Gopalganj, it added.

In these photos and videos, FactWatch identified that, it is seen that in some places graves are being dug for burial and in some places something is falling from a helicopter into a swamp.

Through these videos, it is claimed that the army is killing people in Gopalganj and throwing them from a helicopter.

In another video, some young people are seen removing some dead bodies.

FantWatch mentioned that another viral video claiming to be from Gopalganj shows three young men lying on hospital stretchers.

Of the videos, FactWatch's investigation found that two videos were from the July uprising of last year.

The organization mentioned that one video is old and irrelevant while the viral video is also of three young men killed in Chattogram during the July uprising.

The FactWatch investigation team said that the video circulating claiming as a mass grave in Gopalganj has been on the internet for at least three months.

According to information circulated on Facebook, it is from the time of the July Uprising organized in July-August last year.

In addition, reports published in the media indicate that there is information about the unclaimed burial of the bodies of many people killed in July-August last year at the Rayerbazar Boddhobhumi (killing ground).

FactWatch's investigation confirmed that confusion is being spread by claiming unrest in Gopalganj.
