SIRAJGANJ, Jan 21, 2025 (BSS)- National Gold Cup Football tournament (U-17 
boys' and girls') has begun on occasion of Festival of Youth at Shaheed 
Shamsuddin Stadium in Sirajganj on Tuesday.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the district Muhammad Nazrul Islam formally 
inaugurated the meet as the chief guest, organised by Sirajganj District 
Administration and District Sports Office.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Farque Hossain was present as a special 
guest.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (general) Ganapati Roy, also the convener of 
the tournament management committee, presided over the ceremony.

Deputy Director of Youth Development Md. Shariful Islam, Sirajganj Municipal 
Executive Officer Md. Lutfar Rahman, Shahzadpur Upazila Secondary Education 
Officer SM Shahadat Hossain, Sirajganj Press Club President and former 
General Secretary of the District Sports Association Harun Or Rashid Khan 
Hasan were present in the opening ceremony.

District BNP Vice President Rakibul Hasan Ratan, its Organising Secretary 
Mirza Mostafa Zaman, Sports Affairs Secretary Hedayetul Islam Frot, District 
Sports Association Former Executive Alamin Sheikh were present, among others, 
on the occasion.

Under 17 boys' and girls' football teams from nine upazilas of the district 
are participating in the tournament.

In the opening match, Belkuchi upazila boys' team defeated Shahjadpur upazila 
boys team by 5-4 in penalty shootout while Shahjadpur upazila girls' team 
outplayed Belkuchi upazila girls' team by 8-0 goals.
