CHATTOGRAM, Jan 21, 2025 (BSS)- Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed is on course of a
becoming the highest wicket-taker in a season of Bangladesh Premier League
(BPL) after showing a super consistency.

Shakib Al Hasan currently held the record by taking 23 wickets in 15 matches
for Dhaka Dynamites in 2018-2019. Taskin has 20 wickets, so far, in this
season and that too in just nine matches.

From the very beginning of this BPL, Taskin has been in superb from even
though his team Rajshahi Durbar struggled to get its feet. In just second
match, Taskin created a record by claiming 7-19 against Dhaka Capital, which
is not only the best bowling figure in BPL history but also the third best
figure in recognized T20 cricket.

Only two bowlers earlier claimed seven-wicket haul in T20 cricket and Taskin
entered into the club as third cricketer.

In 2018-19 season, when Shakib created the record of taking highest wickets
in a single season, Taskin was also contender of him but the lanky fast
bowler who was playing Sylhet Sixers that time, had to stop with 22 wickets
after playing 12 matches.

This time, however, he is ahead of the second placed Abu Haider Rony by far
distance. Rony has just 13 wickets in his kitty, meaning Taskin is absolute
favourite to be the highest wicket-taker in this season.
