LAXMIPUR, Jan 23, 2025 (BSS)- The U-17 National Gold Cup Football tournament (boys’ and girls’) began here today.

The tournament is being held at district stadium ground on occasion of Youth Festival with a theme of “Let’s change the country, change the world.”

Organized by the district administration and district sports office, Lakshmipur deputy commissioner Rajib Kumar Sarkar formally inaugurated the meet as the chief guest through releasing balloon. National antheme was played at that time.

Seven teams are taking part in the tournament. 

Superintendent of Police Md. Akhter Hossain, district sports officer Jahangir Hossain, sports organizer Abdur Rob Shamim, journalist Abbas Hossain, district football federation vice president Advocate Mohsin Kabir Swapan, its’ general secretary Sohail Adnan and municipal executive engineer Zulfikar Ali, among others, were present  in the inaugural ceremony with additional deputy commissioner (general) JP Dewan in the chair.
