Kings finish first-leg of BPL with big win

DHAKA, Jan 24, 2025 (BSS)- Holders Bashundhara Kings finished 
first-leg of Bashundhara Group Bangladesh Premier League 
football with an overwhelming 5–0 goals victory over Dhaka 
Wanderers Club in the last round match held at Shaheed 
Barkat Stadium in Gazipur on Friday.

In the day’s match, Brazilian midfielder Fernandes, 
midfielder Sohel Rana, defender Topu Barman, striker Rakib 
Hossain and Brazilian midfielder Miguel Figueira scored one 
goal each for Kings who led the first half by 3-0 goals.

Fernandes opened an account scoring the first goal for Kings 
in the 11th minute while Sohel Rana doubled the lead scoring 
the second goal in the 29th minute of the match.

Topu further widened the margin scoring the third goal for 
Kings in the 38th minute.

After the resumption, Kings continued their onslaught as 
forward Rakib Hossain scored the fourth goal in the 66th 
minute of the match.

Miguel completed the winners’ tally scoring the fifth goal 
in the 76th minute of the match.

The day’s win saw Kings finish at third position in the 
league table of the first-leg with 17 points, behind the 
Abahani Limited Dhaka (19 points from eight matches), from 
nine matches while Dhaka Wanderers Club, also stayed 
temporary  at the ninth position in the table with four 
points playing the same number of matches.

Mohammedan, who finished top spot in the league table, 
bagged 24 points playing the same number of matches.
