DHAKA, Jan 25, 2025 (BSS)—Afghanistan star Mohammad Nabi rated the pitch in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) better than the past years, stating that standard of the pitch made the game entertaining one for the spectators.

Nabi is playing for Fortune Barishal which is in better position to seal the playoffs after being at second spots with 12 points from eight matches.

“This year's pitch is better than last year. That’s the reasons that most of the matches are high-scoring, and it is being chased. We want it this kind of pitch,” Nabi told the reporters today at Mirpur.

“We still have four matches left. We want to focus on those matches and keep the team in the top two. The remaining four matches and the playoffs will be held in Dhaka. We have already gotten used to these conditions.”

In the past, criticism about pitches in BPL was regular topic as the cricketers publicly complained about it. But this year, the scenario is totally different as it lived up to the expectation of new look BPL.

In T20s, spectators want to see runs. This time the teams are regularly exceeding 200 and seven batters have already scored centuries since the end of the Chattogram leg. Nabi also explained why the pitches this time are better than before.

“I think the pitches are getting extra rest this time. They are preparing the right pitches for each game that is why they are playing in three venues. Most of the time there are three venues, but this time they are paying extra attention to the pitches, the pitches are also getting better,” he remarked.

Nabi also termed its true pitch, saying that despite the run-galore, the bowlers also got help if he possessed enough skill.

“Most of the time, spinners are the highest wicket-takers, this time it is pacers like Taskin who enjoyed good run. It means the pitch is good enough and Bangladesh has also got some quality bowlers. This time they are bowling really well.”
