'Youth should move forward with bright speed, strong spirit'

RANGPUR, Feb 2, 2025 (BSS) - Youth should move forward with a bright speed and strong spirit to glorify their sacrifice in the July uprising that has created an opportunity to build a new Bangladesh.

Rangpur divisional commissioner Md Shahidul Islam said this while inaugurating the Rangpur divisional level athletics competition by releasing balloons at Rangpur Stadium in the city on Sunday.

The competition is a part of "Youth Festival-2025 which has been organized in memory of the martyrs of the July uprising with a call for forging unity among youths and inspiring them to nurture values of morality, truthfulness and love and grow collective mentality in them.

The competition was organized by the divisional administration and District Sports Office in collaboration with Bangladesh Athletics Federation with the theme 'Come and change the country, change the world'.

Athletes from all eight districts of Rangpur division participated in a total of 18 events in this competition. 

The chief guest said that students should participate in sports along with studies for their physical and mental development. Sports instill a sense of discipline and unity among people. 

Addressing the participants of the athletics competition, he said that not everyone can win in the competition. Participation is the big thing.

He also advised the youth to move forward with a dazzling momentum and physically powerful strength and hoped that their path would be smoother and more beautiful.

Government officials and officials of the divisional and district sports associations, athletes and their team leaders from all eight districts of Rangpur division, teachers, students and journalists were present.
