SIRAJGANJ, Feb 9, 2025 (BSS) - A cleanliness drive has begun in Katakhali 
river in the district with the slogan of "Keep Katakhali Canal clean, create 
a pollution-free environment".

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the district Mohammad Nazrul Islam inaugurated 
the cleanliness drive this morning. 

Initiatives were taken to renovate and preserve Katakhali River on the 
occasion of "Youth Festival 2025". 

Scouts and students from various educational institutions of the district 
participated in the drive. 

The DC administered the oath to the participants and later, trees were 
planted on the banks of the river.

This cleanliness drive is being conducted as a joint initiative of Sirajganj 
District Administration and Municipality. 

Sirajganj Superintendent of Police Md. Faruk Hossain, Municipal Administrator 
Mohammad Kamrul Islam, District BNP General Secretary Saidur Rahman Bachchu, 
District Jamaat Secretary Zahidul Islam, Sirajganj Press Club General 
Secretary Shariful Islam Inna, among others, were present at the event.
