Swimming, football & athletics training for U-15 boys, girls begins in  Munshiganj

MUNSHIGANJ, May 19, 2025 (BSS) - Swimming, football and athletics training 
for under-15 boys and girls has begun in the district on the occasion of the 
"Youth Festival 2025". 

Deputy Commissioner Fatema Tul Jannat inaugurated the training programme as 
the chief guest at the indoor stadium today.

The training has started under the annual sports programme 2024-2025 of the 
Directorate of Sports, organised by the District Administration and the 
District Sports Office in collaboration with the District Sports 
Organisation. 

A total of 120 students from 10 educational institutions of the district 
participated in the selection process for swimming, football and athletics 
training. 

Of the total participants, 40 boys and 40 girls will take part in each event 
of the training. 

The training programme will continue in 21 sessions. 

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Ataul Gani Osmani presided over the 
function.

It was also attended by Deputy Director of Youth Development Department and 
Member Secretary of District Sports Association Md. Nasir Uddin while 
District Sports Officer (Current Duty) Suman Kumar Mitra delivered the 
welcome address.

The chief guest said that such training programmes at the upazila and 
district levels are effective steps to find talented players from the field 
level. 

"There is no alternative to sports activities for physical and mental 
development. They will develop as ideal people through participation in 
sports," he added. 

From this training programme, talented boys and girls swimmers, athletes and 
football players will get the opportunity to participate in competitions 
organised by the Sports Department at the national level.
