TOKYO, March 27, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - US tariffs on auto imports are "extremely regrettable", the Japanese government's spokesman said Thursday after US President Donald Trump announced levies of 25 percent from next week.

"It is extremely regrettable that the US government announced the tariff measure for automobile and auto parts that includes Japan," spokesman Yoshimasa Hayashi told reporters.
