NILPHAMARI, Jan 28, 2026 (BSS) - Islami Andolon Bangladesh candidate for the Nilphamari-2 (Sadar) constituency Md. Hasibul Islam has said technology-driven smart education will be introduced with a view to modernizing educational institutions and establishing a humane, values-based education system.

He said his goal is to establish social justice based on equality and human dignity, maintain religious harmony, and ensure the rightful freedom of all followers of different religions to practice their respective faiths.

Md. Hasibul Islam is a lawyer. He is the Organizing Secretary (Rangpur Division) of the central committee of Islami Andolon Bangladesh and a former President of the central committee of Islami Chhatra Andolon Bangladesh.

Recently, BSS Nilphamari District Correspondent Bhubon Roy Nikhil interviewed him where he talked about his plans for the development of Nilphamari.

BSS: What are your electoral pledges for the voters of your constituency?
Md. Hasibul Islam: Our electoral pledges include establishing social justice based on equality and human dignity; elevating Nilphamari through ensuring a clean and natural environment; maintaining religious harmony and guaranteeing the rightful freedom of all religious communities to practice their respective faiths.

Modernizing educational institutions and building a humane education system; introducing technology-based smart education in schools, colleges, madrasas and technical institutes; launching special scholarships for poor and meritorious students; adopting zero tolerance against terrorism, drugs, bribery, interest-based corruption, gambling, extortion, hooliganism and nepotism; and taking modern planning measures to reduce traffic congestion and water-logging.

Through united efforts, we will build a modern, discrimination-free society.

Ensuring government incentives for farmers and transparency in the distribution of subsidized fertilizers and seeds; improving traffic management at important points, intersections and flood-prone areas are also on my priority list.

In addition, modernizing Nilphamari Medical College and Sadar Hospital, ensuring quality medical services and presence of specialist doctors; upgrading and modernizing hospitals and educational institutions; establishing modern sports facilities for adolescents and children, playgrounds, and constructing state-of-the-art auditoriums for sports, meetings, rallies and other events, he said.

He said he will focus on ensuring facilities for genuine freedom fighters, and benefits for those injured and martyred in the July movement; modernizing community clinic services to ensure healthcare for women and children; creating employment and reducing unemployment by providing free computer training, freelancing and graphic design, digital marketing and driving training; taking effective measures to ensure safe employment and rights for women; and establishing a 500-seat air-conditioned library with Wi-Fi facilities for students.

BSS: What instructions have you given your leaders and activists regarding compliance with the election code of conduct?
Md. Hasibul Islam: All responsible leaders, activists and supporters at every level have been instructed to fully comply with the election code of conduct. They are working in the field in accordance with these instructions.

BSS: What is your position on the referendum on the July Charter?
Md. Hasibul Islam: In the reform commission, we (as a party) demanded a “Yes” vote in the referendum. We had called for holding the referendum before the election. We hope that the people of the country will vote “Yes” in the referendum. We have also clearly stated in our campaign materials to vote “Yes” in the referendum.

BSS: What are your expectations regarding the upcoming parliamentary election?
Md. Hasibul Islam: A level playing field must be maintained so that there are no violations of the code of conduct, and legal action should be taken against anyone who violates it. We expect a fair and peaceful election through coexistence and cordial relations among all candidates.
