CJ inaugurates newly-renovated ICT building

DHAKA, Jan 7, 2025 (BSS) - Chief Justice (CJ) Syed Refaat Ahmed today
inaugurated newly renovated building and courtroom of the International
Crimes Tribunal (ICT), set to hold trial of crimes including genocides and
crimes against humanity committed by then state machineries during the
student-led July-August mass uprising .

"A new era began with the inauguration of the main building and courtroom of
the ICT aimed at conducting the trial of the genocide and crimes against
humanity that took place in July-August," the chief justice said at the time.

He expressed optimism that 'the great tradition that this historic
establishment holds in the judicial history of this land as the 'Dhaka High
Court' or the 'Old High Court Building' will find fulfillment in a new
journey by bringing transparency, following due legal process and eternal
principles of justice.

He expressed the same expectations that an ordinary citizen has for ICT in
holding the trial of genocide and crimes against humanity committed to stop
the tide of public outrage.

ICT Chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza Majumdar, member Justice Md Shofiul
Alam Mahmood, Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman and ICT Chief Prosecutor
Muhammad Tajul Islam were present, among others.
