CA to confer Independence Award on 7 individuals Tuesday

DHAKA, Mar 23, 2025 (BSS) - Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus will confer the Independence Award 2025 upon seven individuals on Tuesday. 
 
The Chief Adviser will distribute the award at Osmani Memorial Auditorium here at 10:30 am on Tuesday (March 25), a handout said. 

Meanwhile, the government has nominated seven distinguished individuals for the "Independence Award 2025" in recognition of their glorious and outstanding contributions to the national level.

The nominees are: Professor Jamal Nazrul Islam (posthumously) in science and technology, Mir Abdus Shukur Al Mahmud (posthumously) in literature, Novera Ahmed (posthumously) in culture, Sir Fazle Hasan Abed (posthumously) in social service, Mohammad Mahbubul Haque Khan alias Azam Khan (posthumously) in Liberation War and culture, Badruddin Mohammad Umar in education and research, and Abrar Fahad (posthumously) for his role as a young protester.

Besides, the interim government has reinstated the posthumous Independence Award bestowed upon Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.
