CHATTOGRAM, Sept 13, 2025 (BSS) - Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin has said uninterrupted supply of goods is the key to market management.

Due to the government's comprehensive efforts during the last Ramadan, the supply chain remained stable, keeping the prices of essentials low, he said.

The adviser was speaking as the chief guest at the closing session of the two-day international conference on "Future of Business: Innovation, Technology and Sustainable Development" organized by the Bureau of Business Research of Chittagong University at Hotel Radisson Blu in the city yesterday, said a PID release today.

The commerce adviser said that though there is a shortage of raw materials for production in the country, students can help increase production and overcome this shortage through acquiring agriculture-based knowledge.

Referring to the situation after the mass uprising, the adviser said bringing the market on track was a challenge as many members of the so-called syndicates fled abroad.

"Through collective efforts, we were able to overcome that situation," he said, adding, "If future governments can run the market management in a democratic way through coordinated efforts and bring neutral reforms, the market system will be strengthened, ensuring equitable distribution of resources."

With Vice-Chancellor of Chittagong University Professor Dr. Muhammad Yeahia Akhter, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr. Mohammad Shamim Uddin Khan, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin, Dean of Business Administration Faculty Professor Dr. Mohammad Taiyub Chowdhury, University Grants Commission Member Professor Mohammad Ayub Islam and Chairman of Sonali Bank PLC Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury attended it.

Later, the commerce adviser handed over crests to individuals and institutions in recognition of their special contributions to business and commerce.
