8-day drama festival begins in Rangpur today

RANGPUR, Jan 23, 2025 (BSS) – An eight-day drama festival begins today at the Shilpokola Academy auditorium in the city with the slogan "Drama for entertainment, drama for the need of equality".

Cultural organisation ‘Rangpur Podatik’ and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy are jointly organising the  drama festival from January 24 to February 2 next.

Renowned filmmaker Dipankar Dipan disclosed the information at a press conference arranged at Rangpur Sahitya Parishad Hall room at 6 pm on Thursday on the occasion of the drama festival.

‘Rangpur Podatik’ President Bijoy Prasad Tapu, its General Secretary Nasir Uddin Suman, Advisor Advocate Polash Kanti Nag, Member Advocate Reazul Abedin Liton were present at the time.

In his written statement in the press conference, Dipankar Dipan informed that the best eight plays of the best eight groups of the country, including from Dhaka, will be staged in this event.

Just as these plays contain stories of searching for the roots of Bangladesh's culture, those also contain stories of Bengali struggle. These plays will be staged every evening at 7:15 pm.
