EBL to manage toll collection of Chattogram Elevated Expressway

DHAKA, Feb 10, 2025 (BSS) - Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) has partnered with Eastern Bank (EBL) to enhance toll collection efficiency and ensure financial transparency.  

Under the partnership, EBL to manage toll collection and deposit services for the recently inaugurated Shaheed Wasim Akram Flyover, popularly known as Chattogram Elevated Expressway, in Chattogram, said a press release today. 

It said this collaboration marked a significant step in modernizing Chattogram’s transportation infrastructure and revenue management.

CDA Chairman Engineer Md Nurul Karim and EBL Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ali Reza Iftekhar signed the agreement papers on behalf their respective sides today.

Now, EBL will oversee the daily toll collection from all active toll booths along the Elevated Expressway, extending from Lalkhan Bazar to Shah Amanat International Airport. 

EBL will ensure a seamless deposit process into CDA’s designated EBL account for strengthening financial accountability and operational efficiency.

Moreover, EBL will introduce cutting-edge digital toll collection solutions, tailored to meet the evolving needs of commuters and operational demands. 

These solutions, developed in close coordination with CDA authorities to enhance convenience, minimize congestion, and optimize overall toll management.

Engineer Md Nurul Karim said this collaboration with EBL will significantly enhance toll management system, ensuring transparency and efficiency while contributing to Chattogram’s overall urban development.

Ali Reza Iftekhar said that it is a great opportunity for them to support CDA in streamlining toll collection through their banking expertise and digital solutions.
