11 including children injured in Savar cylinder blast

SAVAR, Feb 15, 2025 (BSS) – At least 11 people, including four children, sustained burn injuries in a gas cylinder explosion in a residential building located at Gomail area in Ashulia, Savar last night.

The injured are Zahura Begum, 70, Surya Banu, 55, Monir Hossain, 43, Sohel Rana, 37, Sumon Miah, 30, Shiuli Akhter, 24, Sharmeen, 25, Chamin Mahmud, 14, Mahadi, 7, Swayed, 4 and Suraha, 3.

Injured Sohel Rana told journalists the cylinder was exploded around 9.30 PM at the time of making 'Pitha' on the occasion of the holy Shab-e-barat.

After giving first aid at a local private hospital the injured persons were sent to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in the capital, locals said.

Shaon Bin Rahman, resident physician at the Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute today said that the injured are receiving treated in the emergency department.
