JRC for revising sentencing powers of mobile court’s

DHAKA, Feb 15, 2025 (BSS) - The Judiciary Reform Commission (JRC) has recommended revising the sentencing powers of mobile courts.

The JRC chief, former Justice Shah Abu Nayeem Mominur Rahman, handed over the report to Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna on February 5.

Later, the Chief Adviser's press wing sent a summary of the reform proposal to the media outlets. The report was also posted on the commission's website.

The JRC submitted its report with 28 proposals including the mobile court related proposal.
The commission’s recommendation came subject to the decision of the cases of mobile court pending in the Appellate Division.

It said operation of mobile courts was conducted by judicial magistrates under various specified laws.
