BRTA withdraws circular on filing cases against CNG-run autos

DHAKA, Feb 16, 2025 (BSS)- The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) 
today withdrew a circular imposing fine and filing of cases against four-
stroke CNG-run auto-rickshaw for realizing extra fare than the government 
fixed rate from the passengers.

Muhamamad Talebur Rahman, deputy commissioner (DC) Media and Public Relations 
of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), confirmed the news to the 
journalists.

The BRTA, on February 10, issued a circular imposing fine up to Taka 50,000 
and imprisonment for realizing extra money from the passengers and filing 
cases against the drivers of the CNG-run auto-rickshaw.
 
A letter signed by Director (Engineering) of the BRTA Sitangshu Shekhar 
Biswas was sent to the DMP Commissioner today withdrawing the previous 
letter.

Following the letter, the DMP authorities urged all concerned to withdraw the 
barrier imposed by the drivers and others and not to obstruct vehicular 
movement in the city, the DC added.
