3 held with stolen gold ornaments

DHAKA, Feb 22, 2025 (BSS) – Police recovered stolen gold ornaments and arrested three persons in the capital’s Mugdha and Sabujbag areas.

The arrestees were identified as Md. Anwar, 32, Md. Farid Hawladar, 33 and Md. Milon, 37, said a media release of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today.

Police said the trio were members of a gang of thieves and arrested after conducting raid Mugdha and Sabujbag area on Friday as they stole gold and silver ornaments worth about TK 80,000 in cash and mobile phone after breaking the lock of the house of a couple in Mayakanan, Sabujbagh on December 30 last.
 
The ornaments includes four pairs of gold earrings, four gold necklaces, two gold rings, a bracelet,  one silver necklace, and a pair of nupur (Jingling anklet).

A case was filed with Sabujbag police station on January 7 last this year. 
 
Collecting and reviewing the CCTV footage of the scene, police arrested them and recovered a wrench, a Khur (blade) and a pair of scissors used in breaking the lock open from their custody.

On the basis of the information of Anwar and Farid, Police arrested Md. Milon from Ma Jewellers of Nandipara Garments Street on charge of buying stolen gold. At that time, 1.10 tolas of melted gold and fabricated gold ornaments were recovered from Milon's custody.

Legal process is underway against them in this connection.
