TANGAIL, Feb 24, 2025 (BSS) - The Lalon Memorial Festival 2025, marking 134th death anniversary of mystic poet Lalon Saiji, was held at Madhupur in a festive atmosphere.

The festival was held on the night of February 23 at Madhupur Rani Bhabani Model Government High School grounds.

A brief discussion was held on the life and philosophy of Lalon, also known as Lalon Shah, Lalon Fakir, or Shaiji, highlighting his contributions as a Bengali spiritual leader, philosopher, mystic poet, and social reformer, marking his 134th anniversary.

Madhupur Lalon Sangha President, Associate Professor Farhad Hossain Tarafdar, presided over the discussion, while Madhupur Lalon Sangha Adviser SM Shaheed moderated the event.

Among others, Madhupur Upazila Executive Officer Md. Zubayer Hossain, Madhupur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Emranul Kabir, Lalon Memorial Festival convener Md. Sabuj Mia, Madhupur Municipality BNP General Secretary Khandaker Motaleb Hossain, Tangail Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Coordinator and District Student Federation President Fatema Rahman Bithi spoke on the occasion.

At the beginning of the program, a minute's silence was observed in memory of late journalist MA Rouf, adviser of Madhupur Lalon Sangha.

The cultural segment, conducted by Madhupur Lalon Sangha advisor Alok Kumar Chowdhury, featured performences by Lalon artists Shahabul, Baul Rashid, Nargis, Moon Monalisa, Kajal Rekha and regular artists of Madhupur Lalon Sangha from Kushtia performed music in the memory of Lalon.
