Consensus Commission holds dialogues with Khilafat Majlis, Labour Party

DHAKA, March 22, 2025 (BSS) - The National Consensus Commission (NCC) today held dialogues with Khilafat Majlis and Bangladesh Labour Party aiming to create consensus on the reform proposals.

The dialogues were held on the second day of discussion with the political parties at the LD Hall of the National Parliament Building, a press release said here today.

Headed by its Vice President Professor Ali Riaz, NCC members Safar Raj Hossain, Justice SM Emdadul Hoque, Dr Iftekheruzzaman, Dr Badiul Alam Mazumder and Chief Adviser's Special Assistant Monir Haider were present at the meeting.

The eight-member Khelafat Majlis delegation was led by its Secretary General Ahmad Abdul Kader. The other members of the delegation were Mawlana Ahmed Ali Qasemi, Dr Mustafizur Rahman Foysal, Professor Md Abdul Jalil, ABM Sirajul Mamun, Adv Md Mizanur Rahman, Prof Qazi Minhajul Alam and Abdul Hafij Khasru.

The 13-member Bangladesh Labour Party delegation was led by party's Chairman Mostafizur Rahman Iran. The other members of the delegation included SM Eusuf Ali, Adv Johora Khatun Jui, Mahbubur Rahman Khaled, Md Alauddin Ali and Ramkrishna Saha.

The NCC on March 20 held its maiden meeting with the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) as part of the move to reach a national consensus on the recommendations of the reform commissions after holding talks with the stakeholders.

The Commission was formed under the chairmanship of the interim government's Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, with the aim of building a national consensus.

The commission began its activities on February 15.
