DHAKA, March 24, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today ordered to confiscate
properties of ace cricketer and former Magura-2 lawmaker Shakib Al Hasan in a
cheque dishonour case.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ziadur Rahman passed the
order, allowing a plea filed by the complainant in the case, court clerk
Ripon Miah told BSS.

Relationship Officer of IFIC Bank Limited Shahibur Rahman filed the case
against the four with the court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan
Magistrate Mahbubul Haque on December 15, 2024. The court recorded the
complainant's statement that day and asked the four accused to appear before
it on January 19 last.

The four accused are-- Shakib Al Hasan, his company Shakib Al Hasan Agro Farm
Limited's Managing Director Gazi Sahagir Hossain and directors Imdadul Haque
and Malaika Begum.

The court on January 19 issued an arrest warrant against Shakib Al Hasan and
Gazi Sahagir Hossain as both accused failed to appear before the court on
that day. Another accused Imdadul Haque, however, surrendered before the
court and pleaded for bail.

The court, after hearing the matter, allowed him bail. It also sought a
report on the death of another accused Malaika Begum, as the concerned lawyer
informed the court that she has already died.

Police today filed its report on executing the order to arrest the two
accused. The plaintiff after that pleaded for court's order to confiscate
prime accused Shakib's properties.

According to the case documents, Shakib Al Hasan Agro Farm Limited
authorities took loans from the Banani branch of IFIC Bank on different
occasions for business purposes. The company issued two cheques for a total
amount of about Taka 4.15 crore against the loans for the bank. But both the
cheques were dishonoured due to insufficient funds.
