DHAKA, March 24, 2025 (BSS) - The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) today
showed former Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hauque, former
Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Asaduzzaman Miah and the then
Assistant Commissioner (AC) of DMP's Mirpur Zone Jasim Uddin Mollah arrested
in a case lodged over alleged staged raid of law enforcers, where nine people
were gunned down.

"The three-member tribunal led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder passed
the order and sent them to jail after allowing a plea of the prosecution,"
prosecutor BM Sultan Mahmud told BSS.

Chief Prosecutor Muhammad Tajul Islam, prosecutors-- Abdus Subhan Tarafder,
BM Sultan Mahmud, Gazi MH Tamim, Shahidul Islam, Faruk Ahammed and Moinul
Karim-- were present at the courtroom during the hearing.

Different units of the DMP and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) conducted the
raid on the house known as "Jahajbari" for its ship-like design on July 26,
2016. It was alleged that the whole raid was staged and the people killed
being labeled as militants, had no connection with militancy, were in police
custody for long and gunned down from close range.

The then IGP AKM Shahidul Hauque later went to the scene and said the dead
people were members of banned militant outfit Neo-Jama'atul Mujahideen
Bangladesh or Neo-JMB.
