DHAKA, March 25, 2025 (BSS) – Home Adviser Lieutenant General Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd) today said the government has announced ‘zero tolerance’ policy for any form of violence especially rape against women and children, urging people to build social resistance against the menaces.

“The government’s position over violence against women and children, including rape, is very clear - 'zero tolerance', he said while briefing newsmen after coming out of the 8th meeting of the Advisory Council Committee on Law and Order at the Bangladesh Secretariat here this afternoon.

The home adviser stressed the need for building legal and social resistance against attacks on women and children that included rape.
He asked the law enforcement agencies to take a strict stand against all forms of violence against women and children.

“Instructions have been given to quickly complete the investigation and submit reports before the court after listing all the incidents of violence against women particularly the rape,” he added.

The home adviser said they have decided to ensure speedy trial and strict punishment for the criminals involved in the recent rape incidents.

Members of the committee participated in the meeting with the home adviser in the chair.
