HANOI, March 25, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Embassy in Hanoi, Vietnam observed the dreadful Genocide Day today with due solemnity.

The Bangladesh mission held a discussion in remembrance of the martyrs of the harrowing March 25 night in 1971 at the embassy's auditorium. A one-minute silence was observed to mark the day.

Ambassador Mohammad Lutfor Rahman presided over the programme.

The discussion was followed by candle lighting and special prayers for eternal peace of the departed souls of 1971 Liberation War martyrs.

Addressing the programme, Lutfor Rahman paid rich tributes to the greatest sons of the soil who embraced martyrdom on March 25 night, national four leaders, freedom fighters and the organizers of the liberation war, whose sacrifices earned freedom-loving people the red-green flag.

The genocide committed by Pakistani occupation forces through the brutal 'Operation Searchlight' is one of the most horrific genocides in the world, he said.
