DHAKA, Mar 26, 2025 (BSS) – Adviser to the Ministries of Environment, Forests, Climate Change, and Water Resources Syeda Rizwana Hasan today said building consensus in national interest is a must to gain people’s trust.

She said this while talking to reporters after paying tribute to the Liberation War martyrs at the National Memorial in Savar on occasion of Independence Day today.

“Efforts are underway to hold a free and fair election to fulfill expectations of the people,” said the adviser.

Holding a fair trial for the July-August killings is a big challenge at present, the adviser said, adding, “We will try to create an environment of trust so that the people get some sense of justice through ensuring this trial.”

Rizwana expressed the hope that everyone would prioritise the national interest and said the reforms will be carried forward based on the people’s demands.

Over time, all concerned would come together and build necessary consensus for the process of the country, she said.

The adviser said it is important to rise above personal interests and reach a consensus although there are different views and differences will continue.
