Govt for maintaining fair, safe environment in garment industry

DHAKA, March 27, 2025 (BSS) - The interim government today asked all 
concerned to maintain a fair and safe environment in various industrial 
factories, including the garment industry, and also maintain the overall law 
and order situation of the country.

A statement of the Ministry of Home Affairs signed by its Public Relations 
Wing stated this today.

"The government is very sincere and keen with the reasonable demands like 
salaries, allowances and other dues of workers in various mills and 
factories, including the garment industry," it read.

According to the statement, the government is working to execute the 
reasonable demands of the workers and the government's all-out efforts 
continue in this connection. 

"Necessary instructions in this regard have been given to the owners and 
Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and their 
activities are being monitored also," it added.

The statement further said, "However, creating unrest in the Ready-made 
Garments (RMG) sector, blocking traffic, anarchy and violence in the name of 
unfair and unreasonable demands is not desirable and will never be accepted."

The government will strictly prevent it with the help of law enforcement 
agencies, it mentioned. 

The government also sought all-out cooperation of both the owners and workers 
of the mills and factories to ensure a fair and safe environment in those and 
also maintaining the overall law and order situation throughout the country, 
the statement added.
