JESSORE, April 16, 2025 (BSS) - Two children have died by drowning in a pond at Jhikargacha upazila of the district today.

The deceased are Shafin, 03, son of Saiful Islam Bacchu and Meherin, 03, daughter of Jahir Uddin of Joykrishnapur village of Jhikorgacha Upazila.

Saiful Islam said the incident occurred when Shafin and Mehrin were playing in front of the house at around 11am. Suddenly the children went missing.

 After searching for some time, family members recovered their bodies from the pond adjacent to the house.

Officer in-charge (OC) of Jhikargacha police station Bablur Rahman confirmed the incident.
