164th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore to be celebrated nationally

DHAKA, April 29, 2025 (BSS) - The 164th birth anniversary of Bishwakabi Rabindranath Tagore will be celebrated nationally in Kushtia.

Preparations have been made to hold a three-day cultural program on the open stage of Shilaidaha Rabindra Kuthibari on May 8 (25th Baishakh).

A three-day rural fair will also be organized on the occasion of his birth anniversary in the district.

Ahead of the celebration, a preparatory meeting was held at the conference room of the Kushtia District Administration today.

Deputy Commissioner Md Taufiqur Rahman presided over it. It was informed in the meeting that Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki will be present at the inaugural ceremony of the birth anniversary of Bishwakabi as the chief guest.

On the 25th Baishakh in 1268 Bengali calendar, poet Rabindranath Tagore, the fountainhead of Bengali wisdom, was born at Jorasanko Thakurbari in Kolkata.
