Enhance scopes of higher education for Bangladeshi students in EU countries: UGC chairman

DHAKA, May 7, 2025 (BSS) – The University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Professor Dr. SMA Faiz today called upon the European Union (EU) to increase the scope of higher education for Bangladeshi students in its member countries.
 
“Increase the scope of higher education that include scholarship and joint research for Bangladeshi students in European countries,” he said while addressing a programme as chief guest marking ‘Erasmus Information Day’ for Bangladesh at UGC auditorium.
 
Expressing his commitment to enhance the existing relations between UGC and EU, he hoped that the EU’s cooperation will enhance to create more scope for Bangladeshi students for higher education.    
  
Faiz, also former Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University (DU) said that Bangladeshi students are getting scope to enhance their abilities through Erasmus Plus Scholarship, make links to various universities in European countries and assess their merits, said a UGC press release.
 
He also said the European countries are marching ahead through research and innovation.
      
Speaking on the occasion, Michael Miller, the Ambassador of the European Union to Bangladesh said that the Erasmus Plus Scholarship and Fellowship is a successful programme and it will create a huge scope to enhance the ability of the young Bangladeshi students alongside generating massive employment.
 
Teachers, students of 20 universities and concerned officials of the UGC and EU were present.
