Stakeholder meeting on ‘Bangladesh Telecommunications Ordinance 2025’ held

DHAKA, Nov 11, 2025 (BSS) - A stakeholder meeting on the ‘Bangladesh Telecommunications Ordinance 2025’, organised by the Department of Posts and Telecommunications, was held today at the BTCL meeting room in the capital.

Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant on the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb was present at the meeting as the chief guest, said a press release here.

In his address, Taiyeb said that the proposed ordinance has brought several fundamental and timely changes to the existing laws and policies, including imposing a ban on internet shutdowns. It is expected that this will further strengthen transparency, accountability, and protection of civil rights in the telecommunications sector of Bangladesh, he added.

However, he mentioned that there is scope for additions and deletions to the ordinance based on the opinions of the stakeholders.

The stakeholders' representatives gave different opinions on various issues during the meeting.

It is mentionable that the draft of the ordinance has been made available on the website of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications for the information and comments of the concerned stakeholders and the general public.

The public and stakeholders can provide their comments on the draft of the ordinance until November 15, 2025.
The meeting was chaired by Abdun Naser Khan, Secretary of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications.
