DHAKA, May 7, 2025 (BSS) - The Election Commission (EC) has suspended NID verification services of paramilitary auxiliary force- Ansar and Village Defense Party (VDP) and BRAC Bank after detecting data leak.

Director General (DG) of the EC's NID wing ASM Humayun Kabir disclosed this to reporters at his office at Nirbachan Bhaban here today.

He said, "During routine monitoring, we found evidence that our data was being leaked from the two institutions. Then we temporarily closed it as per the decision of the authorities."

He said a formal investigation is already under way. The EC assigns routine data security checks to specific teams who monitor access by different institutions, he added.

The services of five organizations were shut down after data was leaked to a third party using NID services in February. This time, evidence of data leaks has been found in two more organizations.
