DHAKA, May 26, 2025 (BSS) - The investigation committee formed by Dhaka University today submitted its report on the murder of Shahriar Alam Shammo, a final year student of the Institute of Education and Research (IER), to the university authorities.

The committee, led by its convener, Dean of the Arts Faculty Professor Dr Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan, handed the probe report to Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan this morning at his official residence.

Proctor of the university Associate Professor Saifuddin Ahmed and the committee's member secretary, Assistant Proctor Sharmin Kabir, were also present at that time.

Prof Siddiqur Rahman Khan said the report had been prepared following due process and further steps would be taken after reviewing it.

Shammo was stabbed to death by a group of miscreants at Suhrawardi Udyan on May 13.

The Dhaka University authorities formed a seven-member probe committee immediately after the incident, headed by Prof Dr Siddiqur Rahman Khan. Later, eminent lawyer Barrister Nurul Azim was co-opted into the committee.
