Met office forecasts light to moderate rain over parts of country

DHAKA, May 27, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today forecasted that light to moderate rain or thunder showers are likely to occur at a few places over the country for the next 24 hours beginning this morning.

"Light to moderate rain or thunder showers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy falls at places over the country", the forecast added.

A low-pressure area has formed over the Northwest Bay and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal. It is likely to intensify.

Southwest monsoon has advanced up to Barishal, Chattogram, Sylhet and Mymensingh divisions and eastern part of Dhaka division.

Day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Maximum temperature on Monday was recorded 36.3 degrees celsius at Feni and minimum temperature today was 20.6 degrees celsius at Khepupara.

The sun will set in Dhaka at 06-40 pm today and rise at 05-12 am tomorrow.
