Cable car to be installed from Himchori to Reju Khal in Marine Drive Road

DHAKA, May 27, 2025 (BSS) - The government today approved a proposal in 
principle for installing Cable Car from Himchori to Reju Khal in Marine Drive 
Road of Cox's Bazar district to be implemented under the Public-Private-
Partnership (PPP) method.

The approval came from the 16th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on 
Economic Affairs held at Bangladesh Secretariat today with Finance Adviser Dr 
Salehuddin Ahmed in the chair.

The Cox's Bazar Development Authority (CoxDA) under the Ministry of Housing 
and Public Works placed the proposal in the meeting.

The meeting approved a proposal in principle from the Ministry of Commerce 
for increasing the timeframe by another two years till June 30, 2027 for 
importing or locally procuring commodities by the TCB following the Direct 
Procurement Method (DPM) or any other method as per the Section 68 (1) and 
Section 32 of the Public Procurement Act, 2006 on urgent state purpose.

The Economic Affairs Committee meeting approved another proposal from the 
Ministry of Commerce for increasing the timeframe (time period from the date 
of advertisements in newspapers to tender bids formulation and submission) 
mentioned in the concerned section following the internal OTM method as per 
the Section - 83 (1) (Ka) and Section - 61 (5) of the Public Procurement 
Rules, 2008 under the jurisdiction of the TCB.
