DHAKA, May 27, 2025 (BSS) - The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change announced that it will distribute free eco-friendly bags for the proper disposal of waste generated from Qurbani animal sacrifices and animal markets.

The initiative will cover all City Corporations and Paurasavas to ensure environmentally responsible waste management during the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha.

The decision was made during an inter-ministerial meeting held on May 15 at the ministry's conference room, chaired by its Secretary Dr. Farhina Ahmed, said a Press Information Department (PID) press release today.

To maintain cleanliness and hygiene, monitoring cells will be set up at all designated animal markets, the release added.

Additionally, the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) have been tasked with clearing Qurbani waste within 12 to 24 hours after the sacrifices.

In an effort to raise public awareness about proper waste disposal practices, the ministry will distribute four lakh leaflets across City Corporations, Paurasavas, Zila Parishads, Upazila Parishads and Union Parishads.

Furthermore, messages promoting environmentally sound Qurbani practices, including the importance of using designated sacrifice areas, will be shared during Juma prayers before Eid and in Eidgah sermons.
