DHAKA, May 27, 2025 (BSS) - A total of 323 non-government schools across 60 districts have received Tk 1 crore 93 lakh 15 thousand from the Ministry of Education to purchase research equipment.

Liuza-ul-Jannah, deputy secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division (Budget), confirmed the allocation to BSS, which had also been outlined in a prior official letter from the ministry.

Each school will receive Tk 59,800, with the funds distributed across three categories: Category 'A' includes 180 schools from 30 districts, category 'B' comprises 119 schools from 24 districts and category 'C' covers 24 schools from six districts.

According to the ministry's letter, the funds must be spent strictly in accordance with government expenditure regulations and used exclusively for the purchase of research equipment.

Additionally, any unspent money must be returned to the government treasury by June 30.

The ministry has directed local district administrations to monitor the procurement and management of the equipment to ensure proper use of the funds.

Besides, institutional heads have been instructed to maintain detailed registers for all equipment to ensure transparency.

The letter also noted that the heads of institutions will be held accountable for any irregularities or mismanagement in the use of the allocated funds.
