DHAKA, Aug 5, 2025 (BSS) - Germany today joined the international community in commemorating the one-year anniversary of Bangladesh's historic student-led mass uprising, calling the day "both a moment of remembrance and reflection as well as one of looking ahead."

In a statement posted on its official Facebook page, the German Embassy in Dhaka described August 5 as a pivotal moment in Bangladesh's history and expressed solidarity with the people of the country in their pursuit of a democratic future.

"On this important day, the German Embassy stands with the people of Bangladesh," the post said, affirming Berlin's continued commitment to support Bangladesh's democratic transition.

"We remain committed to supporting the aspirations of the Bangladeshi people for a peaceful, inclusive and democratic future that ensures the rule of law, justice, and dignity for all," the statement added.

The message echoes similar sentiments expressed by other European key partners, including the United Kingdom, France and the European Union, who have marked the day with public statements recognising the sacrifices made during the 2024 mass movement and reaffirming support for reforms under the interim government.
