False affidavit may scrap candidature in next poll: Sanaullah

DHAKA, Aug 11, 2025 (BSS)- The Election Commission (EC) is going to include the provision of scrapping the candidature of a candidate in case of furnishing any false information in the affidavit in the upcoming parliament election 

“If a candidate provides false information in the affidavit, the EC will take stern action against him/her after investigation,” Election Commissioner Brigadier General (retd) Abul Fazal Mohammad Sanaullah said after a meeting of the commission today.

Even if a candidate is elected as lawmaker for five years tenure, his/her candidature might be cancelled if he/she provides any false information, he said.
